Roe Deer Stalking Our Story Plan Your Stay Contact

Our Story

With over 25 years of experience in deer stalking in Somerset, Jason Bartlett Stalking has become a trusted name in deer stalking in the UK. From humble beginnings to an established service attracting clients from across the globe, our journey is grounded in passion, professionalism, and a deep respect for wildlife and conservation.

A Passion for the Countryside

Jason Bartlett was raised in London but always felt drawn to the natural world of the West Country, where he spent much of his youth. This connection with the outdoors eventually led him to Somerset, where he discovered a lifelong love of stalking deer, particularly roe deer stalking.

Fuelled by his enthusiasm for ethical hunting and a desire to share the thrill of the stalk, Jason founded what would become one of the most respected names in deer stalking Somerset has to offer.

Today, Jason Bartlett Stalking provides fully guided deer stalking experiences for beginners and seasoned hunters alike. Our goal is always the same: to deliver unforgettable, authentic moments in nature through safe and sustainable hunting.

Expert Guidance & Professionalism

Our team brings decades of combined experience in county deer stalking and deer management. Whether you're looking for a deer stalking course, planning to explore the roe deer season, or simply seeking expert guidance, we’re here to ensure every outing is safe, educational, and exhilarating.

Every stalk is tailored to suit the client’s level—from complete beginners to experienced stalkers—providing a bespoke service unique to the British countryside.

Ethical & Sustainable Hunting

We’re passionate about responsible deer management. With the increasing population of wild deer across the UK, professional deer stalking plays a vital role in protecting habitats, forestry, and agricultural land. Our approach is always ethical, targeting older or weaker animals to promote healthy population dynamics.

Working closely with landowners and estate managers across Somerset, we help maintain a sustainable balance through carefully planned and humane practices that contribute to the local ecosystem.

Our Values

Show respect for the countryside, have due regard to health and safety, respect animal welfare and show consideration for others who may have little knowledge of deer management.

Always follow up on every shot taken at a deer, even if you think you have missed, to minimise the risk of a wounded animal not being humanely dispatched.

Be able to identify deer by species, sex, and age class and to know when and where it is safe and legal to shoot.

Always unload the rifle:

If it is necessary to leave a rifle in a locked vehicle, ensure that it is out of sight. Always remove the bolt, and ammunition where practicable, and carry them with you.
